We recently spent an afternoon with John Mayer and his signature PRS Silver Sky guitar. Originally announced in March of 2018, the Silver Sky was inspired by some of John's and Paul Reed Smiths' favorite elements of '63-'64 era instruments.
The Silver Sky features a 7.25" radius rosewood fretboard, a comfortable neck profile, custom-voiced 635JM pickups and a bone nut. While the headstock shape is based on PRS' classic design it's inverted to accommodate John's playing style. This design also keeps a consistent string length behind the nut, resulting in better tuning.
Earlier this year, PRS announced four new colors for the Silver Sky: Golden Mesa, Dodgem Blue, Moc Sand and Orion Green.
